Progress on layout, should finish stitching together today.
Yellow, pink, and cream quarter log cabin style patchwork blocks set on point with half and quarter triangles to square up sides. Strong yellow diagonal lines create a lattice work effect.

Attempting to figure out if I actually like this possible quilt top layout. It's either not yellow enough or not scrappy enough - I can't decide!

I'm really pleased with how this turned out, though I know it looks very simple. Waffle weave fabric is really challenging to work with in a small space when straight lines are needed. Took forever to make and enclose all seams! I love it, though.

I know these look ridiculously simple, but working with waffle weave fabric in limited space was so hard! I like the spread, though, and playing with half square triangles to make different designs for the shams was fun and easier than expected!
Bed covered with a spread composed of large squares in shades white, light and dark gray, navy, teal, and pale blue. The fabric is a waffle weave texture. There are three pillows covered in coordinating shams, two in light gray and white, one in navy and white. The three shams have different designs based on triangles arranged in different patterns. Closer view of the three shams. The one to the left side of the picture has a center gray diamond square on point surrounded by a hollow gray square on point surrounded by white and gray alternating lines and bordered in gray on the sides. The center sham has an hourglass design with navy triangles top and bottom point to point and white triangles on either side point to point. The one on the right in white and gray can be read either as 4 hourglass designs rotating around the center or as a windmill design, bordered on the sides in gray.

Lavender, purple, blues, and greens, with Barbie pink centers, completed. Hard to tell from terrible picture, but the design is a variant of Radiant Suns pattern.

Three quilts recently finished back from the longarm Quilter. My apologies for the terrible pictures!
Yellow, cream, and gray quilt, bordered in yellow, thrown on a gray couch with blue and red pillows. Lap or crib quilt in shades of pinks, peaches, and blues and greens. Bordered in bands of pink, white with multicolored bugs, and blue/green abstract bands of color. Square lap or baby quilt in round the world design, concentric bands of color radiating out from the center. Pink, peach, green, lighter pink, darker peach, lighter green, different darker peach, turquoise, lighter peaches, chartreuse, lightest pink, and repeat.

Progress! Extra pieces added to raw edges of squares to "finish" faux sashing. Next, outer border with same colored fabrics set into black to be completed.
Squares enclosing diamond shaped interior squares in gold printed primary colors. The gold printing includes a wide range of shapes suggesting triangles, swirls, pebbles, and other shapes.

The pattern is Radiant Suns by Cara Gulati from 2002, a beautiful variation on the original.
Snapshot of a swirling quilt design pattern called Radiant Suns. Each block has sections that curve and appear to swirl. They are organized in graduated colors, some from hot pink through dark red, some from the same hot pink through purple or navy, some from yellow through dark orange and red, and some through shades of blue and green. The colors chosen for the illustration are saturated and intense. It's bordered in a strong royal blue purple that harmonizes with the other colors in the but is not used in any of the blocks.

Moving right along on rail fence lap quilt.
Jelly roll strips (narrow strips of fabric) ranging from cream through yellows, oranges, browns, and grays laid out ready to choose on a cluttered sewing table. Progress on a scrap buster little quilt, pieces left over from several other projects. Now to assemble and figure out a border.
Patchwork in tones of dark pink and peach through lighter peaches and pinks with some blue, green, and turquoise in varying shades laid out on a floor with parts of two blue and white rugs visible at the top and lower left. The darker pink patches form two diagonal lines echoed by partial lines elsewhere throughout the layout. These are scraps from other works and will have a border in similar colors when finished.

When the pieces aren't straight lines, I either lay them out on paper and make a pattern to piece to fill in (the hard way),or make a larger uniform background and applique them in place. Like this volcarona for my son:

These are the two pieces I finished yesterday and am pretty excited to share! Volcarona on the left is a wall hanging for my son. The purple and gold quilt on the right is for a dear friend who has been incredibly kind to me this year. Can't wait to share it with her!
