Danuta and I have been part of the same writers group for years. It was lovely to hear her read from her new short story collection at an intimate gathering in her home today. I feel grateful to call her a friend. Check out her new collection on Amazon.

My first cousin twice removed, Louise DesLaurier (née Peterson), has passed away at 92. Louise and I met just a few years ago, after I discovered our shared ancestry. You can read her story in my essay "The Bones of My Ancestors", which is also the basis of my debut chapbook.
