What book were you reading when you realized “olive skin” doesn’t mean green skin?

Someone mentioned photos of Houston snow, soooo….
Leafless crepe myrtle in the corner of our backyard next to a small utility pillar, with a couple inches of snow covering the yard around them Taken around 5:10 am with phone autoexposure so it looks brighter than it actually was. If you zoom in there are two abandoned nests, a small gourd birdhouse, and a wasp trap hanging in the crepe myrtle. View down our small backyard to an old slide at the opposite end of the yard. Enough snow on the ground to completely cover the grass. This is unusual in the Houston area! View from the front window across the street. Our yard and sidewalk have a heavy dusting of snow but you can still see blades of grass. The two story house across the street has a roof, yard, and two cars covered with about two inches of snow. Just the trunk of our small oak tree and surrounding flower bed and front lawn, with a view of other houses across the street. The lawn and flower beds are completely covered with snow. The street and sidewalks have a dusting of snow and an obvious glazing of ice.

Our condolences. Molly sends snuggles—it’s kind of her thing.

I saw THREE separate rainbows today.

This is a graph of wind speed at IAH from Wunderground. Most of the day at gale/TS force, gusts to H 1. It lasted longer than expected and it pushed farther north than expected. But the what if questions are absolutely valid. This wasn’t a monster storm.

We had put Fiona’s sofa away and just found it again. I missed the shot earlier this evening of her sitting down with her “arm” draped over the “armrest”.
