Not a gravestone but a delightful little tribute stone to William Morris found today after a little bit of searching involving fog, rain, mud, pavementless roads, and clambering over railings. I was about to give up and was strolling on wistfully, pretending I had a big beard, when I found it!
Small stone honouring William Morris’s walk to his nearest (not near at all) railway station reads: Si Je Puis WILLIAM MORRIS 1834 - 1896 CRAFTSMAN, DESIGNER, POET, SOCIALIST He lived at Red. House, Bexley Heath, from 1860 to 1865 and passed this spot regularly to and from Abbey Wood Station BEXLEY CIVIC SOCIETY MILLENNIUM YEAR

Sad to hear another great independent small press poetry magazine is closing. Prole took a few of my poems over the years, none of these are in a pamphlet or book so I thought l'd gather them here with the adorable covers for each mag they featured in.

Oh! It’s nearly 5th November! And I barely ever mentioned 💅 this but I had a poem called bonfire in The Poetry Review in 2022 I think which is still this century so here it is again! 🔥
LAURA McKEE bonfire I'm not supposed to be thinking this is beautiful the dazzle of diesel oil purpling across the surface of the canal carrying through its colours more colours loud fallen autumn leaves a bonfire in my head sometimes I've taken a thing as read for years before asking what are we saying when we say the words we say like bonfire not the good fire I thought I would find on checking etymology perhaps thinking of how its heart glowed how it freed dark corners from the dank scent of old papers unsent letters sent circling up as firebirds higher than telegraph wires no love lost what we've been making all along is a fire of bones
