Likely NO ONE’S idea of a fun read, but ?? Independent People, by Halldór Laxness. It was written in Iceland in the 1940s, and is the VERY slow moving story of a family deep in the country on a croft in Iceland before WWI. The narration meanders so purely and sweetly it brought me to tears
