Here’s my new addition to my un-air conditioned apartment: solar shades! I know they won’t do much during a heatwave but so far, they’re keeping the place several degrees cooler on run-of-the-mill summer days. It does, in fact, help to stop the sun before it hits the windows.

When I worked downtown, I went to Grand Central Market all the time, and it was truly wild to see how quickly it changed. That was a decade ago, though, so lots of people probably just don't know!

A three-judge panel on the 9th Circuit, including two judges appointed by Trump and one by President Biden, scheduled a Tuesday hearing in the case, meaning the National Guard in Los Angeles will remain federalized through the weekend.

Update: The 9th Circuit has granted a stay of the order in the National Guard case, meaning the ruling won’t take effect tomorrow at noon, nor will Newsom immediately regain authority over the California National Guard
