ORDINARY TREASURE would not exist without Shelagh — she was the first person I knew I wanted to write about, and getting to spend so much time with her work (and her excellent press interviews) has been a total joy.

She’s best known as the author of working-class classic A Taste of Honey, but her other (now often-forgotten) work — the 1967 film Charlie Bubbles, her experimental short story collection Sweetly Sings The Donkey — is just as brilliant.
