Spring is here on Lac Léman. Finding myself taking long routes walking or cycling to work to take in more blossom unfolding.

Spring is (reluctantly) here in Lausanne, albeit at 5 degrees C. Sleeting snow this morning, hoping it will warm up!

I love Switzerland. Meet the traditional Tschägätta - guardian mischief spirits of the Lötschental (and other valleys too), who roam around from Candlemas to Ash Wednesday and throw people in the snow if they are feeling unsociable!

They're saying the quiet parts out loud now.

Celebrating my new nephew, born 3 weeks early and doing great! Was wonderful to be there briefly to help my beloved sister with the first 3 days.

NEW: 2024 has just been confirmed as the warmest year on record, and the first to breach the 1.5C threshold.

We used a ridgeline (Joy Division inspired) chart to visualise daily temperature anomalies since 1940.

2024 clearly stands out with 100% of its days above 1.3C and 75% above 1.5C.

Binge-re-watching Blown Away (Netflix), thought occured: this show was a quiet piece of perfection. It's thrilling, it showcases incredible art and talent, the evaluators are fair and kind, and the glass blowers are wonderful humans, even while competing. Even the music is lovely. #chilltv

I don't know how you guys wake up in the morning and immediately turn on a TV show about politics. We need to go back to when morning TV was mostly weather talk and also there was a chimp there sometimes.
