My vibrant, realistic acrylic paintings share spiritual signs that love is right here. laurahigginsart.com
Trout lily blossoms (dog toothed violets) look as if their heads are bowed over in serious contemplation. They are beautiful, and are one of my favorite spring woodland flowers.

Seriously, creative folks: Don't be afraid to let people know your stuff is out there for them, or worry that "now is not the time for that." People are stressed and freaked out and looking for the things that will give them a moment of rest and joy. It is EXACTLY the time for what we do. Tell them.

When we allow a selfless love to
shine through us, imperfect as we
are, we make the world more loving
and beautiful.

I painted this portrait of my beloved sister Kerry back in 2006. Her absence and my grief transformed the direction and purpose of my art and made it more deeply meaningful. I will always be grateful for the 20 years I was privileged to be on this earth with her. See Alt text for transcript.

On this cold day the sun is shining on my canvas ☀️ This large piece is sideways on the easel so I can reach detailed areas from a sitting position which is best for me. It is of a garden cart full of perennials in October and is called "Going Home." #workinprogress

“Look Up” ©Laura Higgins 2025, 12” x 12” Acrylic on Canvas
When I am tangled in grief, worries and fears, the expanse of sky reminds me that love is greater than all of this. Like the sky, love is expansive and endless and will survive all things. Love is right here. I just need to look up. #lookup
