Ok - It appears the crimes excluded are those where the populations are harder/more complicated to survey.

So it’s a fair point to say the survey has limitations but I think a clear trend is still very obvious and arguing the survey doesn’t reflect reality is a bit of a stretch.

The graph isn’t reliant on police data/reported crime. The ONS data is based on asking the population if they have seen/experienced crime.

I’m really worried about the future with this. Particularly looking at case studies from around the world.

When the health service, social care & welfare system are crumbling assisted dying may feel more than merely an option for many 😞

We need systems that rebuild epistemic resilience from the ground up:

- Teach verification and critical thinking from an early age

- Rewire institutions to operate transparently in an open-source world

- Reinvest in investigative infrastructure that spans journalism, law, and education
