I'm busily working my way through my submissions for this year’s Royal Miniature Society exhibition 🧐

Inspired by my recent visit to the National Gallery and the stunning work of Rachel Ruysch, I thought I'd paint some flowers, and a ladybird for those with good eyesight 🧐 🤭

Here's a little painting recently sent down to the delightful Cotswold Contemporary Gallery...summer fruit is finally back 🥳

This has to be one of my favourite compositions to paint...though the etching on the jug can be a little challenging 😵‍💫

Painting miniatures really helps focus your mind of what to include, and more importantly exclude, to make a composition work...I'd highly recommend getting out the magnifying glass and having a go 🧐

I love painting dandelions...though I'm not so keen on tidying up the mess from the seed heads afterwards 🥴

This painting was such a delight to work on, especially knowing what was awaiting once I'd finished 😋

This beautiful copper jug, for my latest painting, came from a local thrift shop. I love the marks and dents in the surface, bringing its own history along. I often wonder where they have come from and what they have seen?

For those who love chocolate, but not the calories, this miniature painting is the perfect Easter gift 😄

Possibly my most complicated miniature painting so far. It reminded me that I have an opticians appointment on Friday 🧐🤭

The beauty of painting fruit is trying to recreate the unique markings, colours and shapes of each individual piece. I can't ever imagine growing tired of trying to capture this. Thank you nature!

This is my favourite copper kettle to paint. It was given to me from my dad, who salvaged it from a local scrap yard and cleaned it up for me.

My latest little painting has sent me slightly crazy! 🥴

I love painting this part of the blue willow design. I always think the tree looks like lots of blue oranges all piled on top of each other 🤭

I'm hoping this photo gives you an idea of the scale of my latest painting - HUGE for a miniaturist 🤭

A small painting of cherries, recently completed, then eaten 😋

This miniature painting flew over to America this summer, and found a new home there (hoping it's not regretted it's decision 🥴)

It always feels like the fruit is having a little conversation. They currently have a lot to talk about 🥴

This little silver vessel is one of my favourite pieces to paint. It was from my late grandparents house. I'm so pleased they were hoarders!

It seems I enjoy painting any fruit that has beautiful bloom patterning 🤭

I love it when I can paint 'found' fruit. These damsons were foraged in the autumn and matched so well with the blues in the bowl...

This miniature painting will be part of the Miniature Art Society of Florida's exhibition, opening on 19th January 🥳

I love painting grapes! The patterns and colours that are created by the way the bloom forms is just beautiful.

A miniature (or I suppose full size!) trompe l’oeil ladybird painting. Hours and hours of painting the wooden background, and a mere two hours on the lovely little bug ❤️

Happy New Year 🥳 Enjoy your figgy pudding 😋
