Always love the organ voluntaries at to conclude the #9LC service. Those low registers you can feel in your soul and gut and make you regret what you ate for lunch. That Messiaen for the win! 🤯👏

I have given up caring what other people think- I will sing the descants high and loud regardless of the setting I’m in even though it’s a stretch for me these days. #wdnc #OComeAllYeFaithful #HarkTheHerald #Willcocks #9LC

Went to a Nine Lessons and Carols on the weekend here in Chicago and they didn’t sing the Word verse (??) this year in O Come. I had worn my “Word” t-shirt and everything. So I have high expectations for the upcoming congregational hymn. (And yes I’m wearing the t-shirt today.) #9LC

I appreciated that more sparse There Is No Rose (Stainer & Bell is an old publisher!). I’m not feeling this Britten as much for some reason. #9LC

Portman’s commissioned carol- exquisite. The solo boy soprano voice and when the baritone came in on “at once a voice arose”… I hope this piece gets into choral rep rotation. #9LC

This Canadian-living-in-the-US’s soul is always soothed when a church/choir breaks out the “English” tunes for some of these hymns (It Came Upon, O Little Town, Away in a Manger, etc.) #9LC

The search is still on for Minnie. Lost in the #southloop but could have travelled a distance if scared or spooked. Please keep an eye out for this pup! (I don’t know the dog or owner, just feel bad for the lost pet/owner.)
