We are all Badger proud today

On Monday our hearts will be in that courtroom.

We will take in as much as we can, and we will forgive ourselves when we just can’t take it anymore.

We are grateful for everyone in the state’s attorney’s office. They continue to center the victims and their families, and all impacted.

I’m hopeful that this will be healing rather than harmful.

We don’t live in the community whose peace was shattered that day. We couldn’t access the many resources available. We weren’t able to be with others impacted to share that collective grief and be around people who understand.

It’s been 2.5 years and I can replay it as if it was yesterday.

We were not physically injured - yet the pain and grief of what we lost that day persists.

As the murderer’s trial begins on Monday, we won’t be quiet.

Even if it’s hard.
Even if it’s traumatic.

This is the legacy of trauma.

No one mourns the Wicked.
