doi.org/10.1101/2025...
We present a protocol to generate Parasympathetic neurons from hiPSC. They express key parasympathetic/autonomic markers, #ephys features and respond to nicotine. They can also form functional connections with hiPSC-atrial cardiomyocytes.
Generation of parasympathetic neurons from hiPSC that reproduce the electrophysiological properties of native neurons and modulate the activity of hiPSC-atrial cardiomyocytes
Peripheral parasympathetic ganglia lie adjacent to their target organs; their dysfunction contributes to diseases like atrial fibrillation. Due to their challenging accessibility for primary culture, ...

Single-cell RNA sequencing clarifies dermal fibroblast subset representation in vitro and reveals variable persistence of keloid disease-associated features
In vitro models of scarring and fibrosis are essential to improve our understanding of disease mechanisms and ultimately develop much-needed effective therapeutic strategies. This is particularly true...

I can never get bored of recording action potentials from my iPSC sympathetic neurons and the RMP was -70mV 😍 #patchclamp #ephys

Honoured to have presented at the super cool Ephys Club⚡😎👩‍🔬 and thank you for all the constructive comments!
Another successful Ephys Club! Pizza 🍕, refreshments 🥤 and an amazing talk from Laura Fedele, who set up a rig all by herself and managed to get successful recordings from iPSCs all in less than a year!

Thanks to our sponsor Scientifica for making it possible!

Many thanks to @theorah.bsky.social who did a wonderful job as our comic artist and bringing Professor SPaRC to life!
Introducing Professor SPaRC! To contribute to Science Week, members of our department will be visiting local schools to teach children about the brain and the human nervous system with models, interactive classes and comics! @kingsioppn.bsky.social #BSW25

Super happy to share our work just published in @jphysiol.bsky.social
led by Neda Mohammadi and a amaxing work by all the authors!
We show that sympathetic neurons can enhance the maturity of stem cell derived cardiomyocytes structurally and functionally- exciting data for neurocardiac models!

Check out the Trump cards designed by @comeflywithjo.bsky.social, featuring all kinds of research models, from fruit flies to sea urchins to organoids🪰🐸🐟

Get in touch with Jo if you'd like to use the cards as part of your teaching/ outreach activities!

Top Trumps - but make it science 🤓 I had the most fun designing these, and I've written about how you could use it in your outreach programme!

I'm keen to spread the word to any educators/academics who might be interested - please share 🤗 @nc3rs.bsky.social
