Be careful out there if you have a small breed dog. These coyotes keep trailing us and are trying to split up and come at us at different angles but I don‘t think a 75 lb Akita mix will be an easy snack for them, but a smaller pet might be. They’re sneaky little guys!

Oh man, we have a whole family of the IKEA pandas. They really are the best.

As a North Side yupster, I've almost exclusively owned and driven hatchbacks and wagons. There's still a lot of interest in them, but from Japanese and European makers, not GM and Dodge. Though VW/Audi quality is as shitty as American manufacturers.

And we all sat there for like 10-15 minutes and everyone had different guesses... Marketing? Maybe it scored well in test groups? But nope, Block wasn't buying any of those responses. Finally, someone said, "To kill people?" That was the right answer and Block goes, "YES! TO FUCKING KILL PEOPLE!"

For a while, Dodge named their models stuff gun related (Magnum, Caliber, etc) and on the first day of one of my political theory classes (Dr. Jim Block at DePaul), he shared an article about this trend and asked the class why would a car called the Caliber need headlights that look like crosshairs?

It's a rebadged Opel and was only available for a few years. GM was basically giving them away because they weren't selling well at first. The line was discontinued right before the pandemic car market went berserk and the prices on them went parabolic since they gained kind of a cult following.

The good guys were framed by the bad guys and the bad guys were trying to catch and kill the good guys. Pretty scary stuff indeed.

In February, OpenSecrets pegged NAR's lobbying spending in 2024 at $86.3 million — the largest amount spent by a single organization to influence elections and policy. The group's 990 form appears to align with the estimate: NAR reported $86.1 million for lobbying or political activity last year.

Gotta love the snow dogs living their best life in the snow! This snow dog loves the snow. (The child though? Not so much.)

My toddler just did one of these in the living room

To clarify... Not Toby jugs, but any kind of cool or weird Chicago shit or bike parts. I just recently sold my big Old Style tavern sign but getting rid of a bunch of other Old Style stuff. There's a fine line between hobby and hoarding.

Woo boy, I've been thinking about this theme a lot (but I'm finally in full downsizing mode now)

100% agree. At this price, you’re still under $500 shipped for a platform with an excellent frame, decent wheels, and so-so drivetrain and brakes. I want to put a mid-drive Bafang crankset on mine. I’ve already purchased a hydraulic brake set but still need to put them on. All-in I’m still <$1000.

Howdy! 👋 Well, I have a feeling your suspicions may be spot on. There’s no way they’re making any money selling them for $420 with free shipping. My guess is that they’re trying to clear out their inventory. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the last bunch.

I have a friend who worked for him and one of the things he frequently did was print out Curbed blog posts (and other web stuff) and bring to him to read on paper. He was definitely trad when it came to reading news and media! Definitely a loss for the architecture world.

Maybe the actual architects on here can help us understand what's going on here a little bit better. Just from a glance, it still looks like the Thompson Center.
