Still constantly amazed that there used to be a highway here. The only thing I miss about it is the murals in the underpass, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

actually looking at the geometry of the buildings these ramps might be over 9th Ave. I think this is the perspective of that rendering:

The whole project is taking place within the boundaries of the existing footprint of the terminal and its ramps and garages. The red outline here shows the project area and (I think) the yellow star shows where these ramps will be

On my walk home from the bus after the Save RIPTA press conference. I would have had to wait an extra 50 minutes to catch the last 75 which would have brought me much closer to home, so instead I took the 72 and walked 2 miles. Usually it's a decent walk, but this shit makes it infuriating

I have an idea for the bridge

I have fantasies of doing something like this with the railroad tunnel, and since it's a fantasy there's also an elevator up to street level on Thayer Street at the SciLi. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fylling...

I guess this is what I'm fixating on now. Purple starts at North Station, is 391 miles long, and goes through the Hoosac Tunnel, as a treat for foamers. Green is 430 miles and brings rail service back to St. Johnsbury & Newport VT.

always a great perspective

When I first started biking for transportation I had never heard of John Forester but I naively assumed that if I just followed the traffic rules and behaved like a car, the drivers would have to respect my existence! My first ride down a signed "bike route" quickly dispelled me of that notion..

Hypothetical routes for a Boston-Montreal train, because I wish I could take the train to Montreal. Red is 383 miles w/ new service to Palmer, Amherst, & Millers Falls MA, & Ludlow VT. Blue is 425 miles & duplicates Downeaster to Portland, then cuts across NH & NEK VT to serve Eastern Townships

An 8 hour trip including an hour in Manhattan for what should be a 3-4 hour ride

I wish it was easier to get to Gillette Stadium and the stuff around it, so I came up with the idea of running shuttle trains between Framingham and Mansfield to provide regular service to Patriot Place from 3 different MBTA lines. Not sure how feasible it would be, but it'd be nice for me!

I had the privilege to visit Bilbao a few years ago, and the intercity bus terminal there is one of the things that truly radicalized me towards "why the hell can't we do that here?"

Just bought tickets for my first King Gizz show(s) and I'm unreasonably excited. Looking at my watch like Milhouse waiting for the year 10,000 until August 19

Greetings from my neighborhood! 👋

Ann & Hope used to have its own passenger station on the P&W line from Providence to Worcester. Maybe again someday!

One nice thing about in-laws in Maine is that we're almost always guaranteed to have a white Christmas

Nuuk, Greenland, population ~20k has a bus system with 10 minute headways most of the day and operating hours from 6am to midnight. Arlington, Texas, population ~400k has a minivan you can maybe get a ride on if one of the 6 seats is available and the driver doesn't have too many stops to make.
