The BBC have pulled the thumbs up / down function on their text coverage. This comment had 12k down votes a few minutes ago ... I wonder who made the call to pull it?

Or, in Nick Ferrari language: "... some people might say" so I'm sure people are cool with it ...

"... you have a very grabby way of talking to talking to people", well, that's one way to articulate 'effective communicator,' I suppose ...

Europe needs to take ownership of its own security, now. The leaked plan suggests a requirement to hold elections within 100 days. Putin will invest heavily in influencing that. Can you imagine where we'll stand if a pro-Putin stoodge is elected?

I suspect Trump cares little about the impact on Ukraine or Europe if those terms are agreed. He cares only for the ability to claim credit for the war's apparent conclusion.

The scale: if I gave you $1 every second it'd take 11 days to accumulate $1m ... 32 years for $1bn ... and a rather long 32000 years for a trillion.

Who says there's not an issue with wealth inequality ... ?

Is it too obvious to suggest a link to the recent report by Sky that observed a strong right-wing bias in the X algorhythm and that "more than half of political posts came from accounts that used hateful or extreme language" news.sky.com/story/the-x-...

John Hattie did a staggeringly exhaustive meta-analysis on the influences of achievement in school. The impact of homework, esp in primary, was found to be negligible. I feel reading with your child and creating a positive relationship with learning are much more important.

I think the SDR suggests this, hence the 20/40/40 concept.

Compare and contrast Nick's tone, approach, and level of challenge on this interview with last week's 'interview' with Farage. Night and day ...

The 'special relationship', future tariff leverage, demonstrating a continued commitment to the US as our key military ally, an opportunity to employ our v expensive air assets (F35s), delusions of our global standing .... I think there are significant drivers to commit, albeit on a limited scale

I don't think Ayatollah Khamenei has been assassinated?

That's right. Of course, war is inherently chaotic, and situations like this are hardly binary, so there are always degrees of interpretation, which by their very nature are subjective.

It's an interesting scenario: to be protected under the Law of Armed Conflict, the individual would have to be wounded in such a way that they obviously couldn't defend themselves, and demonstrate they had no hostile intent. Therefore, this engagement would appear to be consistent with the LOAC.

Fantastic article, Ben. I'd add that it was also a conscious decision by news outlets to deliberately omit or barely reference the incredibly detailed IFS reports, which concluded that the impact would be negligible and almost exactly as your article outlines.

Worryingly, this is a better explanation of events than that offered by some news outlets. Bravo, Matt
