It was great to hear @elizabethbiggs.bsky.social’s talk last night for our @mappingthemarch.bsky.social seminar series. Really interesting discussion afterwards on if it is possible to compare the different Marches (particularly the Scottish, Irish, and Welsh) in the late Middle Ages. #medievalsky

A beautifully frosty walk this morning!

A first for me - visiting Special Collections to view 19th c material instead of medieval. Mostly for the map of the two Marcher lordships for @mappingthemarch.bsky.social! But every other page of the book was left blank for ‘Manuscript Notes’ and that’s what I’d like in all my books from now on…

📍MapMonday! Over the past few weeks I have been mapping the historic parish boundaries in Denbighshire, as recorded on the OS 1st edition 6" mapping. Almost there - only a few more to go! This is the first step in mapping medieval lordships of the Welsh Marches - going backwards in time from here 🗃️

Our first trip to Aberystwyth successfully completed - archives, mapping training, and exciting conversations about the next steps of mapping the medieval Welsh Marches 🗺️ and a partial team photo - we were missing @mikej1971.bsky.social! 🗃️ @profhelenfulton.bsky.social

The ‘Medieval March of Wales’ team has been on the move today, arriving into Aberystwyth to be reunited with the rest of our team, which is based at RCAHMW. We’ve been nerding out over maps in their archive before the digital mapping work starts tomorrow 🗺️📍🗃️

Great day yesterday hearing about the current and future research directions of medieval Irish records, and discussing the possibilities of DH as medievalists more broadly 🗃️ @mikej1971.bsky.social @elizabethbiggs.bsky.social (I’m not sure how many of the VTRI team are here on ☁️ yet?)

Some snaps of today’s tour of 1480s Bristol organised by @profhelenfulton.bsky.social as part of the Being Human Festival. Dreary weather was beaten by the stories of the city’s medieval inhabitants and the vibrancy of our tour guide’s garb 🎉 🗃️

We’ve just moved to Gloucestershire and found out that there is a ‘ship graveyard’ within walking distance so naturally that was our weekend sorted
