And this means the book you believe they will like now, not the book you think they will slog through and learn to like. Pander to their tastes until reading itself is something they think of as fun. (This may never happen! But I think this gives the best odds.)

We had a hard time getting one of the kids to unlock a love of reading. James Patterson says that it’s not that kids don’t like reading - it’s that they haven’t found the right books. And he is right - his Treasure Hunter series led to Babysitters Club etc. She needed the right book.

That song sneaks up on you. A wonderful showcase for the performer.

In many ways, she epitomized how lonely it can be for very competent women, especially in environments where men make the rules, and she did it with fearlessness. And you always knew that Margaret was, in fact, very funny and very hot, she just had bad taste in men and got her feelings hurt easily.

No line ups last night but yesterday morning was apparently wonderfully buzzy.

Ottawa has declined to make the move. Frustrating.

Equating it to an all star game - not sure that any sport has a perfect version but this is pretty close.
