Retired after 40 odd years of teaching literature to undergraduates. I miss the interaction with the up and coming kids. I do NOT miss reading and responding to essays. Oh, and I definitely recommend retirement.
5/So yes, Goldberg is right insofar as cockwomble is not an American conservative. But he is wrong insofar as he makes cockwomble's approach a "left-wing" phenomenon. It is not. It's a fascist approach to governance and to the economy.

4/As an economic system, fascism is a command economy, but where the means of production are not held publicly, as in communism and socialism, but privately, as in capitalism—note that capitalism and socialism share the same kind of demand rather than command economy.

3/Fascism, as a political system, depends on the strong man to govern directly, by his (sometimes her) own uncompromised power. Hence cockwomble's approach to governing by executive orders, which are a euphemism for dictats.

2/comes from "left-wing economic thought."

I beg to disagree. The approach that cockwomble takes is straight out of the hyper-right-wing school of thought, not "conservative" in the American lexicon, to be sure, but straight out of fascist thought.

Surely some injected chlorine bleach would take care of it?
