I read your article back in December and have been wondering what happened. I'm so grateful Natalie was able to get the surgery she needed, and furious at what you went through.

The last people I want in charge of making those cuts are an egomaniacal billionaire who thinks money = wisdom and won't be affected because he can easily afford to pay for everything privately, and his team of overpaid 20-somethings who have never had to take care of anyone else in their lives.

The federal government gives me very good value for my tax dollars. Could it be streamlined? Sure, but I want it pruned by someone with some basic concept of the value of what they're cutting.

I don't have $$$ to spare to pay for private fire fighting, policing, military protection, medical research, scientific research, buying land for recreation, private verification my food and water are safe, weather alerts, support for the arts, and foreign aid.

This was a wild ride. I couldn't quite tell, was the OP saying she had already ended the engagement or was she just contemplating it? Because that really changes how she can respond at work.
