Dr. Brian Klass explains complex systems theory very nicely in this video. I use this theory in my own research on supply chains How small disruptions far upstream in the chain can cause catastrophic issues closer to the customer. Supply chains are complex systems. youtu.be/TLm6dC34gYk?...

Interesting lecture by Nobel Laureate Professor Simon Johnson last night. He talked about his prize winning research around why countries stay rich and others poor and the relationship between institutions and prosperity. He is now focusing on technologies like AI and inequality.

So how effective are sanctions really? Or for that matter tariffs to! Interesting video from Bloomberg on the illegal trade of oil from sanctioned countries through a dark fleet network. Unfortunately this is just one of many flotilla around the world. youtu.be/9NpgzsTrW78?...

Bellamy: "He drops the box of orders into the tube it calls for, and in a few moments later it drops on the proper desk in the warehouse, together with all the orders of the same sort from the other sample stores. The orders are read off, recorded, and sent to be filled, like lightning." 1888!

In 1888 Edward Bellamy published a book called Looking Backward 2000-1887 which pretty much describes describes ecommerce in one chapter: "The packages are then delivered by larger tubes to the city districts, and thence distributed to the houses."

So have a lecture today to master students in a retail marketing course. It was on contemporary issues in last mile delivery. Got a lot of blank stares so not sure if I was really interesting or really boring. Such is a lecture life I guess!
