Strong polls create a false sense of security for supporters of the frontrunner, and drive more people to the polls for the underdog. It hurt Hilary in '16, Trump in '20 and Biden in '24.

It's an unfortunate paradox. The left celebrates individual thought and choice, even when it goes against the majority.
The moderate right tends to coalesce around the 'loudest minority' for fear of being ostracized.
It's why so many are in the grip of MAGA even when the hardcore are the minority.
