The cuture war positions are emergent from that. They give economically lower-class right-wingers someone to look down on, which makes them “above” certain people in society. And if they feel they are somehow not at the very “bottom”, they might be less likely to rebel against those “above” them.

I feel like a very important component for skepticism to work is that you need to teach people it’s OK to be wrong. Otherwise people will just use skeptical-sounding language to barricade themselves in their existing biases.
