Even though of course once you're out of coursework, turns out the grades aren't the important part, the ambition and leaning into challenge is. Such a strange environ.

One of the things that made me cease any actually ambitious academic pursuit was how much grades == your worth as an academic... So in a sense you want to already know you'll get an A before you ever take a course, which obviously means you don't want to take courses you think will challenge you.
