Grokipedia entry on Western Esotericism... There was no ESSWE conference in 2024. The 2025 conference was on the theme of rationality and esotericism, but there was no quantitative content analysis of Rosicrucian Manifestos. At least not in any of the sessions or keynotes I attended...!

Exegesis was the creation of Robert Daubigny, who in the 70s had played the part of Pogo, an itinerant busker with a Christ complex in Lindsay Shonteff's psychsploitation classic Permissive.

Sorting through my kid's old drawings. Some of them are priceless, such as this man shouting 'Gargoyles!' as he is about to be hit by a falling gargoyle...

We're organising this gig in Leeds on the 28th Nov. A weird mix of spirited dungeon synth, resonating metal, and cosmic medievalism (from my side project Dark Valley). Price on a sliding scale and BYOB. It's a small DIY venue, so DM me for the address!

Why call a square a square, when you can call it a 'quarre'?

Not one, but two AI slop works on the Book of Soyga have recently appeared. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the Clavis/THP edition announced in 2013... 😭

My friend John Godbert published a book of his drawings. John did the art for our Hawthonn album 'Earth Mirror' - as well as The Fall's Live at the Witch Trials & other underground classics. If you fancy a copy, email herbdiamante(at)yahoo dot com

While researching my talk on the Monad, I managed to find an actual picture of Dee writing his masterwork.

Putting the last slides on my talk about John Dee's Hieroglyphic Monad together - ending with a short musical excursion... here are some notes from Hesperian Garden, which draws heavily on the harmonics of the Monad. Listen here - download includes detailed PDFs!

Around this time of night, I like to drink from the Holy Grail and read a book of alchemy.*

*actually a work on Ars Voarchadumia, which, as its author will tell you, is distinct and probably far superior...

I'm very happy to be revisiting my friends at the Folk, Myth and Magick moot on Tuesday 9th September to talk about one of my favourite subjects: John Dee's Hieroglyphic Monad.

The talk is at 7:30pm in the basement of the Beehive Pub in Shipley. All welcome!

I think this is destined to be a controversial article, but we should also critically and soberly think about the political entanglements in any field of study we engage with. Julius Strube's 'Esotericism, the New Right, and Academic Scholarship', is open access in Aries: brill.com/view/journal...
