Basically unless Republicans threaten to impeach, I don't see the occupation of liberal cities ending anytime soon.

The only way this will actually end is if congress can limit his power (even then its not clear what laws they are willing to follow anymore) or he gets removed from office. This regime will not give up power willingly. We already saw this on Jan 6th.

You are seeing this right now in Minneapolis. He's the one calling Frey and Walz and acting as the moderating force and deal maker. But like these are all his people, he picked them and put them there!

Yeah true and like with other reforms in place this would not be as important. Dollar will eventually lose reserve status no matter what we do, better to get ahead of it now and build something with inertia that preserves a multinational order.

5. Recommit to the international rules based order. Build out a global payments system outside of any one nation's control. Stop allowing the ends to justify the means. Cannot enable genocide in the name of greater threats. No longer leading the free world will be much worse vs any one-off conflict.

4. Anti-trust laws for free speech. Cannot have concentration of media by individuals. Larry Ellison's media empire needs to be broken up. Need full transparency for financing of media companies.

3. Complete overhaul of DHS. Total culture shift. Likely mass firings. Would help to do immigration reform that's enforceable economically instead of by force.

2. Dismantle the oligarchy. Extreme wealth taxes. 1% is too small, need to completely eliminate billionaires. Set some wealth cap that's X times the minimum or median wage.

1. Curtail the power of presidency and move almost all presidential powers back to congress. Basically should be more a ceremonial title and we should stop caring about the presidential election. True power should be in the senate/house.

I hadn't heard about where they stood, had to look it up. Pretty bad when ICE is so clearly unpopular with the public. But don't think they'd be issuing this kind of stuff if it wasn't the feeling held inside these police departments.

Yeah the role police play in assuaging the fears of the wealthy that the public will turn on them is pretty horrifying. Very revealing that every billionaire in NYC freaked out over who the police commissioner would be over anything else Mamdani wanted to do.

Will likely always need some type of state violence but need to minimize the surface area as much as possible. End of the day its really just a very useless tool that rarely gets the job done.

Yeah which is why I think like building out policing alternatives is really important right now. What's happening in Baltimore and what hopefully Mamdani can do in NYC can show people you solve most of these problems through economic policy or social intervention.

Anyways remember all of humanity are brothers and sisters. If there's ever a time to pull together and build the world that truly matches our ideals, it's now.

Truly a pivotal time in world history. The decisions we make in the next few years will likely be the foundation for global order for millennia.

The cold war really ends today with the fall of American hegemony. Will need a new payments system and likely a world currency. More nations will likely go the way of India, seeking non-alignment and pursue regional interests.

Instead of using our unprecedented influence to usher in a multipolar era with a rules based system, we tried recreating the cold war with China and ultimately again with Russia.
