"America should be run like a business" makes perfect sense—if you don't think about it.

Not only does the government provide services and resources that do not easily map to the business world’s profit/loss framework, but it's also designed to be a corrective force to the excesses of business.

Can anyone explain to me the intense obsession with self-reliance that exists in the United States? I honestly don’t get it. What benefit does it have? Why is it a virtue with conservatives to be self-reliant? I do what I have to do but self-reliance sucks. Humans aren’t meant to do things alone.
