We do home exchange when possible and visit 4-6 weeks. Also we stayed out side of Venice. A 7 minute train ride in and out saved us a bundle.

There are so many different elevations the high desert is amazing as well as the forested areas. It’s a very beautiful state with gorgeous landscapes and beautiful blue skies.

Oh I should definitely add Naples to the list. You will Ferry to most of these places and take the train into Pompeii. We had ferries cancel on us when we getting into Almafi so we took public buses to that destination as well as Ravello. That was an adventure in its self.
