I’d run and use them. Running them and not using them seems to me to be unethical waste. You can explain in any output why there is more data than pre-registered.

As a native speaker, yes “kont” can be used as a non-diminutive. To me, kont is as normal as kontje. Kontje feels slightly less rude and is more likely to be used metaphorically (i.e. for the end slice of a loaf), but the difference is marginal.

And trains seem to be posher than busses, but less posh than cars. Planes are clearly poshest.
