I was 7 when I was given my first copy of the Hobbit. It took 2-3 days to finish it. Since then I reread Hobbit/LotR at least once a year, and Silmarillion/Unfinished Tales every 4-6 years-ish. I have read thousands of books in that same genre and Tolkien is definitely a literary god among men.
