🤔Perhaps the better way to put it is not all members of "the elite" are experts, and not all experts are "elites." I fear conflating the two entrenches the pathologies that arise out of the social construct of "the elite" by borrowing the legitimacy of expertise while simultaneously denigrating it.

Maybe someday we can have a test, where a group of experts and a group of non-experts each design and build a skyscraper, and perhaps the results will reveal if expertise is a social construct or something more real.

You are assuming that elite and expert are the same thing. The so-called "elite" are a social construct, expertise is real. This is like saying "all things being equal, having more money is better than having less money, so actually snobbery is good."
