For over 100 days, journalist Mario Guevara has been detained by U.S. law enforcement for his livestream reporting.

He is the only journalist behind bars for his journalism, and he could be deported for doing his job.

We demand his immediate release.

A proposed federal rule change would force visiting journalists to renew their U.S. visa every 240 days. Given this admin's priorities, @lapressclub.bsky.social submitted a comment on how the change would undermine trade:

Trying to prosecute journalists for doing their job is an obscene waste of taxpayer dollars.

Despite a lousy track record here, our last Los Angeles City Attorney admitted it's NOT "in the interest of justice" to prosecute press.

LA Press Club stands with our colleagues from Ohio (charged in KY).
Prosecutors must drop charges against two Cincinnati journalists arrested while covering a protest. Their jury trials are scheduled in just a couple weeks.

A coalition of rights groups and journalism professors explained why this prosecution is so dangerous.

Today, attorneys representing the Los Angeles Press Club filed a complaint in federal court seeking to restrict use of force by LAPD on our members and journalists. Recent police attacks on our colleagues are both wrong and unlawful. Journalism is not a crime.
