Last year, all new budget chips from MTK were renamed old chips, while QC made some new hardware (i.e. 4s Gen 2, 7s Gen 3 family). Next year we'll probably see the reverse.

There's an app called StegSolve, which usually allows to find these 'unvisible watermarks'. After you find them, you can make them unreadable this way or another.

The funny detail there is that they also changed screen size from 6.78" to 6.25". This can't be a last-minute change when you already have a product, so in fact they don't have anything as of now
