Lancashire bred and born, but my parents followed the siren song of 'there's gold in them thar hills' and immigrated to California when I was still a babe in arms. I escaped to Washington State, where I have Arabian horses and grow dahlias.
1/2: I ordered some items from the Al Khamsa fundraiser site and got my items yesterday. I opened the package for my car magnet, which was supposed to be a 50th Anniversary celebration of Al Khamsa, and got this instead:

We went to Wenatchee for the North Central Washington Dahlia Society tuber sale and scooped up a bunch of nice tubers. Next stop was Coastal Farm and Ranch for 10 bags of teff pellets for the horses. We checked out the Goodwill close by since we had time to spare and picked up a few items.

Run-in shelters for the horses are going up! Power and water lines have been put in place. Post holes were dug. Posts were set yesterday, and today a back wall has been established for the three shelters.

Woodland's Wildthing. Introduced by Mishler in 2000, this is always a crowd pleaser. A B sized orange SC, it's in ADS class 2203. I've never managed to snag a tuber of this, but it's on the wishlist. Photographed at the show September 9, 2023.

We are busy getting ready for dahlia season here in Omak. The previous owners of this property were NOT gardeners. I mowed the four acres of alfalfa/orchard grass mix pasture at the end of last summer, so that at least it looks as if someone lives here. Now working on the raised planter beds.

For those who don't know, Jim retired from the USPS at the beginning of December 2024.

My next door neighbours were HORRIBLE people. Dogs constantly barking. Junker cars starting to pile up. Bratty kids. REALLY weird friends.

So we moved away from Maple Valley, and are now in Omak.
