Ja versuchen muss man es in jedem Fall mit allen wenigen Mitteln die die Dems haben. Vor allem jetzt wo ja immer mehr zutage kommt. Nur hab ich da noch Flashbacks zum Mueller Report und dem Ukraine quid pro quo.

Ich meine klar es ist wichtig die Republikaner unter Druck zu setzen und zu einer Positionierung zu zwingen und anders als beim Einknicken beim Shutdown ist es für Demokraten kostenloser Druck.
Aber die Hoffnung scheint mir unproportional zu sein wenn Chuck Grassley einfach weiter mauern kann.

Ich meine klar es ist wichtig die Republikaner unter Druck zu setzen und zu einer Positionierung zu zwingen und anders als beim Einknicken beim Shutdown ist es für Demokraten kostenloser Druck.

Was ich noch nicht verstanden habe ist, warum so viel Hoffnung in diese Abstimmung gesetzt wird. Ist es nicht so, dass das Gesetz bei Erfolg im Senat landet und da erstmal im republikanisch kontrollierten senate judiciary committee landet, wo es vermutlich einfach still versickert?

which is insane because if the plan is to make republicans look bad for voting to defund health care, guess what, they already did that. Even the most centrist brained people won't be able to argue for anything positive here.

Habeck ist aber auch nicht zuletzt an genau dieser klassisch—sozialdemokratischen Defensivhaltung gescheitert. Wie z.B. dem 10-Punkte Plan als Reaktion auf Merz oder wie er schon offen über Schwarz grün nachgedacht hat. Und die Ausgangslage war nach 3 Jahren Arrangieren mit der FDP auch nicht gut.

Die Moral von Herr der Ringe ist ja offensichtlich, dass die Hobbits am Ende endlich aufwachen und sich mit mit dem Macher Saruman verbünden um dann ihre Umwelt auszubeuten, die Mühle in ein maschinisiertes Monstrum zu verwandeln und das ganze mit einem Polizeistaat abzusichern.

This whole “choose your battles” thing is so confusing to me. It’s literally free to say something critical. Do they think democrats have a fixed media attention budget that they can’t afford to spend?

I think if the conditions aren’t horrible, the identity of a candidate doesn’t matter as much as authenticity and credibility around a unified message.
The country didn’t suddenly become super racist and sexist, that was always there and is just more visible now. Plenty of racists voted for Obama.

Obama wasn’t “barely elected”, he won by a huge margin in 2008 (biggest in the past 29 years) and a comfortable one in 2012. Trump barely won both times if anything.
Kamala specifically shouldn’t run again but her loss had really more to do with general discontent with the sitting government.

Wenn SPD und Grüne die Rolle der Ersatzrepräsentanz für rechts einnehmen, ist die Botschaft immer noch, dass die AfD-Stimmen wirken und echtes Gewicht entfalten. Das ist unterm Strich noch schlimmer als wenn die Union einfach mit der AfD gemeinsam abstimmt.

Yup. People change and deserve second chances and all that and maybe he really didn't know for years and then procrastinated when he eventually found out, like that's the most generous interpretation. But even in that case, he's clearly not suited for the job he's going for.

Und das Feigenblatt “wir wollen ja auch ein AfD-Verbot” ist Gratismut wenn man weiß, dass die CDU das eh nicht mitmacht. Sowieso wäre es viel wichtiger eine SPD zu haben die, vielleicht erfolglos, zu ihren Prinzipien steht anstatt AfD-Inhalte öffentlich zu normalisieren und ihr den Weg zu bereiten.
