Our colleague Luke Sunderland (who performs as Luke Connell) brings a comedy show based on his research in medieval culture to the Durham and Newcastle Fringe festivals.

Luke's show offers something distinctive: a comic tour of the medieval world.

MLAC’s Joss Morfitt recently presented a paper exploring the British Film Institute’s pioneering history of queer film programming. The paper was entitled “Anatomising Queer Curatorial Histories: ‘Images of Homosexuality’ and the BFI’s Legacy of Queer Film Programming”.

Marking three decades of collaboration with @institutocervantes.bsky.social, we hosted a screening of the Spanish film The Teacher Who Promised the Sea last week, followed by a Q&A with the director, Patricia Font.

It was great to have a full house at the Tyneside Cinema!

During National Careers Week, north-east students encouraged Spanish tourists to put Bishop Auckland on their itinerary in the Spanish Apprentice challenge – a competition designed to develop language skills, boost confidence, and promote regional tourism.

Our second-year students recently arranged a coming of Ramadan celebration.

Along with Salima Jaljule and Aziza Zaher, students cooked traditional Arabic dishes after researching recipes and ingredients.
