Very little attention has been given to the car dealers, who it seems were the main beneficiaries of these unrevealed commissions. But presumably its simply easier to pursue a few large banks for compensation than thousands of dealers.

Best to find an agent willing to work on a ratchet or incentive fee structure, eg. 0.8%+VAT on 90% of the asking price plus 8%+VAT of anything above that. I’ve always found the good ones to be amenable, and it much better aligns the incentives!

Reminds me of "3 C salad", long a family staple. Equal parts of grated carrot, grated strong cheddar and finely chopped white cabbage. The result is SO much more than the sum of its parts, and actually is even better the next day (if it lasts that long).
