Honestly the stars aligned perfectly to capture different demos. Wicked for the girls gladiator for the dudes and Moana for the family crowd

You’re right in that Wicked’s marketing IS a blatant attempt at recreating the barbie marketing but I kinda disagree that it had a point of view. Barbie was also doing brand collabs whether it made sense or not. Barbie Xbox, barbie Burger King etc
