In Woolwich for a couple of days. Here's a piece of local history in the form of the first McDonald's to open in England

Couldn't drive through Northamptonshire without stopping to marvel at the phenomenal Saxon tower of All Saints' church in Earls Barton...

A couple more. Someone had left all four on the charity second hand book shelf at our local supermarket. Unfortunately I think I've found myself a rabbit hole to go down 🙄😆

Nice when Google Photos reminds you of one of your favourite pics in its daily memories message! I was in the right place at the right time for this lovely sunset over the ruined church of All Saints, which sits in the middle of the earthworks of Godwick deserted medieval village here in #Norfolk

Always lovely to see Ivy-leaved Toadflax appearing in abundance as the weather gets warmer. This was a surprise discovery on the outside of our garden fence yesterday @wildflowerhour.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social and the ones in our garden always have white flowers instead of purple

Breakfast at the amazing Darkroom Chocolate "chocolate bar" in #NorthWalsham, #Norfolk. If you like chocolate, try it out. You won't be disappointed! 😋🍫☕

For #WorldBookDay here's The Making of the English Landscape by W G Hoskins, the book that kickstarted the discipline of #LandscapeHistory. 71 years old now but still a fascinating read. Do track down a copy if the subject interests you 📖

The best gig yet from #Opeth in Manchester last weekend, supported by the brilliant #GrandMagus. If you have the opportunity to see either band in the future, don't miss it! 🤘

A lovely nuthatch (Sitta europea) on one of our feeders this morning. It has taken a couple of weeks for it to pluck up the courage to feed but now it won't stay away! First time we've seen one in the garden since moving here 17 years ago

Two great bands at #Norwich Arts Centre yesterday evening. The fabulous Dr Feelgood supported by the equally fabulous Nine Below Zero. Two and a half hours of cracking R&B!

Always good to receive the latest issue of the journal #Landscape #History. More of the usual fascinating content. If you're not already a member of this Society for Landscape Studies but are interested in the landscape and man's impact on it over the centuries, why not join at landscapestudies.com?

C'è uno starter pack italiano su Bluesky? Qualcuno me lo può mandare per cortesia? Grazie mille

Hi folks. A quick intro. I'm a #landscape #historian interested in many areas including lost villages, ruined churches and memento mori symbology.

I also love languages and am perfecting my #Italian at the moment, so am happy to switch to that.

Looking forward to meeting people. Please say hello.

The view from today's hotel room. A burnt out restaurant... 🤷
