Dextromethorphan (also sold as robitussin, but included in some formulations of mucinex, really does work as a cough suppressant, and has significantly improved my life during a couple of bad colds over the years)

Why does the editorial board of Commonweal find Sohrab a trustworthy or interesting thinker? His contribution to the present moment has been founding a magazine for the anti-liberal far right. Even if he’s sort of repudiated it, he’s changed his mind too many times to for this one to hold interest

Reasoning by fear of the conclusion is an admission of your own doubts. If every argument has to produce the conclusion you began with, you haven’t actually reasoned at all

It’s probably necessary to look at this not only from within the church. It’s no coincidence that Catholic genderism is just a particular flavor of right wing attitudes held well beyond the Church, even as Catholics insist on the distinctively Catholic Truth

Viewing an ecumenical and theological process in terms of whether it constitutes a rival power’s head of state “winning” is either identity politics or geopolitics. (But as jp pointed out elsewhere in the thread, the geopolitical dimension actually goes the other way: a Putin loss)

That is actually a fair point. I changed the word “fantasy”, which I wrote first, to “lie”, and that was incorrect. There’s much fantasy about it, which positions it as something worth centering one’s reasoning on, with effects visible above on clergy (among others).
