A lot of people thinking this is the only welfare the farmers get, they get government "subsidy" checks every year and have since the 1930s. This is just on top of the tax payer money they're already getting.

I grew up in a rural area with farmers who claimed to be poor, while their LLCs made multiple millions. Everything they had was tied into the farm LLCs so they could legally claim they had nothing.

Farming welfare (subsidies as the farmers want people to call it) haven't stopped since the 1930's. What's changed is there's way less farmers, and way more corporate farms. Farmers set up multiple LLCs for tax avoidance while still getting their welfare check.
