Yes, same here. They pick and choose how to tax a couple. My wife's on 25k a year before tax. We'll be paying for her to go back to work and further her career. Couples earning nearly double still get child care? People paying way more tax get nothing back. Doing less is rewarded.

Labour can help state pensioners living in Canada, Australia and other Commonwealth countries, by simply unfreezing their pensions now. The cost is £57 million p.a. for every frozen pensioner to receive annual increases. Those living in the USA get increases! Reciprocal agreemnts not necessary.

I speak fluent German, so I just checked the German news reports. The police told das Tagesspiegel it was fake, it's still being investigated. The police now assume it really did happen.

The Isle of Wight ferries are expensive and unreliable. Private businesses borrow money to buy companies like these and load them with debt. They then sell them on again and the cycle repeats itself. Private companies need competition. That's often lacking with rail, ferries and water companies.

The excellent Bus (Post Bus) service was also state owned and was synced with the trains. Switzerland has a low population but you can get around really well with the train and the bus. I found the ticket prices reasonable.

Government owned is the way forward. I lived in Switzerland for around 3 years and didn't need a car. Travelling with the government owned trains, I regularly had a 3 minute interval to change platforms get on the next train and sit down. I never experienced a late train.
