But this is why private companies are more efficient* than state run organisations.

I think there is sufficient evidence now (mostly obtained from social media) that a significant fraction of the population do not develop a theory of mind.

Anyway… let’s see what the budget holds. I’m pretty certain that working people will be paying more tax.

Now, you might say “but we all knew what they meant”, and I say that politicians making statements that need to be interpreted by the public, (when they could equally have said “Nobody will pay more basic rate tax”, or “Nobody will pay more tax on earned income”) is a problem with politics.

3) there are people who work who also get significant income from non-work activities (i.e. those who own rental properties or dividends from shares). They are working people. Increasing tax on rental income or on dividends is still going to hit them. “Working people” will still pay more tax.

means that there are working people who now pay more tax.

2) not allowing then tax boundaries to move with wage inflation means that more working people will be paying more tax. Pretending that not changing the percentages is adhering to the promise isn’t correct.

The reasons it’s a stupid promise is manifold, including:

1) There are many high earners - way above the basic tax bracket. They work. They depend on income from work to live. Simply keeping the same percentage for the lower tax bracket but increasing the percentage of the higher tax bracket…

When you’ve got the answer to that, you might like to look into what “working class”
means in the U.K.

I think they would have got a lot of candy, so you’re helping them to get a more balance diet.

Exactly. I mean, what are “they” really doing up there that “they” don’t want us to find out about?
