Absolutely. False hope is the worst of all, and can place a lot of strain on relationships with healthcare

This can be very variable between people. It can be a bit harsh to crush all hope immediately, just as it is to introduce false hope. Simplest is just to ask how far the patient wants to go in any given consultation. Delivering bad news can be a process, not a single event.
