If photo ID’s are required then they should automatically be given to every citizen for free. As an out of work, non driver with expired passport, and my own life issues I’m dealing with I’m currently not allowed to vote in my own country!

The problem stems from two party politics. Go the European way and adopt a proportional representation democracy that encourages consensus politics. It’s boring and politically messy, but it’s more representative and reduces the power of extremes.
