I read The Hobbit to my second-youngest son when he was about eight, and he’ll be 24 soon. Then I read Fellowship of the Ring and subsequently taught it in a Hero Myth class. Fellowship rapidly became one of my favorite novels, although I haven’t really warmed up to the other two LOTR novels.
