I’m not arguing with premise of the OP re stratification, but to suggest companies don’t bother to try sell in certain markets is just no longer true.

Product mix is different for sure but European and Chinese giants are here and expanding fast. Apple is notable American exception and their ads are everywhere. All the big ad groups have moved in. Everyone needs toothpaste.
Advertising is everywhere- including Africa.
