There is a reason that Lancashire mill workers were good at lip reading: this weaving shed at the Queen Street mill in Burnley originally had 900 looms - there remain 308. Imagine the noise during full production.

I'm thinking about the answer Es Devlin gave on Woman's Hour this morning when was asked how she made her large designs successful:
"For a work to end up its best possible version of itself everybody, every collaborator, has to do their second best work"
