I was there and now I'm here. I might be there later. I talk about weather, places, cats, making stuff then getting distracted, mops and their stories, the thrill of the banal, ephemera, and detritus. I like baking. I used to be koangirl, but I'm old now.

Um. Ann Coulter’s endorsement of Pierre Poilievre is another good reason to vote for Mark Carney 🍁

I am still wrapping my head around the fact that the Navajo Code Talkers, who, y'know, SUCCESSFULLY KEPT WAR SECRETS Secret apparently needed to be memory-holed to make room for the true glory of sharing war plans with a journalist you *invited* into the group chat

I follow @hcrichardson.bsky.social closely. She has told us time and again that throughout US history the only thing that's ever worked is the general public making lots of noise. She tells us to take up oxygen in the room, protest in the streets, contact congress, letters to editors, run 4 office.

So, what's this about former kgb spies mentioning that Trump was recruited by Moscow back in mid 1980s as a gullible stooge and is still beholden to the fucking kremlin?

At the property, the front porch was a sheet of thick slick sheet ice from water expelled by the heat pump. Oscar used the strongest of his stick collection to chip away at it.

Grim and wet winter day, but the river was lovely. I like seeing how its course shifts over time, its banks moving and changing. I bathed here as a baby before we had plumbing.

I'm not sure why I spent the past two posts talking about rescheduling 100+ accommodated exams except to note how the practical implementation of equity and inclusion aren't necessarily met, even though the need is very real. There is a lot of talk, but my team is not getting the resources it needs.

2/2 when I say 100+ accommodated exams needed to be rescheduled, I mean I needed to find space, staff, equipment, and tech for each unique student legal requirement. Do we have these things? Not enough to try to squeeze one week into the full next week. Double full. I'm exhausted.

I've just had a bonkers fortnight, dealing with the fallout from the three days of snow closure ten days ago. I look after accommodated exams at a university and over a hundred were cancelled during peak midterms. I've somehow fit them into an equally overfull week with insufficient resources. 1/2

I posted this yesterday on my FB account and got pushback from people I used to work with when I was teaching abroad. One is middle aged white Canadian in Mexico and the other American in Vietnam. Both read it as propaganda and told me I needed to read Orwell and Chomsky. I don't know how to reply.

Snow day spent in cold back room, working for 9 hours without break to reschedule all the students whose accommodated exams were cancelled due to the campus closures. This is what I saw of it, through the window.

Also, drove to work in a blizzard only to be sent home three hours later in a heavier blizzard when they finally decided to close the campus. Couldn't see the road. Should have stayed in bed.
